Join Catherine Edwards here at Globe Arts Studio for a full day 6 hour workshop, using traditional techniques to hand craft your own pair of slippers.
Catherine Edwards trained as a boot and shoemaker, working for many years before a residency at the royal armouries, which led to the production of her first collection of unique leather goods.
With Cathys guidance, you will learn how to cut your own patterns to the size you require and use them to trace onto top grade unwaxed leather, cutting out and marking up for stitching.
We will use the traditional Saddlers’ two handed sewing technique to stitch your slippers together and add a small heel. With your finished slippers as a size guide, create your own envelope style storage bag using super soft suede and attach a hand rolled leather toggle to fasten.
The making process is completed entirely by hand using genuine leatherworking tools including vintage and antique pieces from Cathys own collection.
This workshop is suitable for all ages and abilities, covering a range of skills, with tools and materials provided, techniques include cutting to pattern, hand stitching, and colour matching fabrics for upper and outer pieces.
