‘Fruit and Veg’ will be showing until 27th November for anyone that can’t get to the preview.

‘My work is influenced by the theoretical writings of the philosopher Michel Foucault. The best illustration of this is that it could be considered to be a ‘node within a network’: that is a node or confluence between different forms of representation. Much of my work is based on the genres of still-life, landscape, portraiture and conventional artistic practices but is also engages with metaphor operating between image and meaning.

The work in this exhibition develops the themes of still-life with structures derived from geometrical sub-division of the surface, akin to processes found in analytical Cubism. These forms are subjected to transformations exploring image reversal, fragmentation and complimentary colour/colour. These pieces are also something of a workshop that is involved with transition from acrylics to oil painting, more especially in the smaller canvases of fruit and vegetables, where oils are the principal medium.

Many of the images hover between figuration and abstraction  and much of the work naturally evolves as a series, although each stand alone as individual works engaging with techniques derive from printmaking, painting, and photography. There is therefore, an intended journey, a sense of time as the audience travels between these related works.’
