It’s time for your little ones to get creative!
June/July Term - Starts Saturday 7th June until Saturday 12th July
Our fantastic tutors have new themes planned for each term… these sessions are planned to encourage junior artists to explore materials and learn techniques that they might not learn in school. In June/July term we will be focussing on…
Printing Techniques: Students will explore various printing methods, including tree bark and leaf relief, monoprinting, and marbling, to create layered, nature-inspired textures.
Cyanotype Art: Young artists will learn the Cyanotype process, using natural materials like flowers and leaves to produce sun-printed images, inspired by O’Keeffe's attention to flora.
3D Sculpture Making: Drawing from O’Keeffe’s sculptural sensibilities, students will design and build organic sculptures with paper mache, recycled materials, and natural objects, focusing on shape and abstraction.
Wire Flower Modelling: Junior students will work with wool and pipe cleaners to create flower models to explore form and movement, mirroring O’Keefe’s floral studies.
Throughout the term, students will engage in close observation, independent thinking, and personal expression of nature, culminating in a mini-exhibition showcasing their explorations and creative voices.
Please note: As we are heading into the warmer months and now have an outdoor space at our new site, we kindly ask that your child is prepared and dressed appropriately for the weather before every session in case we create artwork outdoors.
This includes, suncream already applied, appropriate clothes & footwear, sun hats, and coats when slightly colder. If your child requires bug spray or hayfever tablets, please make sure that they have already had this before class.
We have 2 sets, Mini Juniors 5 to 7 years +Juniors 8 to 10 years, these run in the same space with the same project, but the tutors will give each age group a different level of difficulty.
WHERE: Globe 1 (Unit 11 at Holme Mills, HD7 6LS)
WHEN: Saturdays 9.30am to 11am, throughout the term during term time.
WHO: The class is taught by Kate, Paige & Penny, experienced teachers, with enhanced DBS and first aid training.
