  • Globe Arts Studio Carr Lane Huddersfield, England, HD7 United Kingdom (map)

Join Jane Middleton for this full-fay folk art workshop!

Saturday 28th September - 10am-4pm

The workshop will involve learning about the different elements of monoprinting. There’s loads of fun and playful experimenting involved as there’s so many outcomes from the process.

We will have a go at different techniques using ink and a roller including trace monoprinting, collaging our monoprint mark making, collagraph, and masking out shapes as well as monoprinting with oil pastels.

We will create illustrations and patterns that are inspired by folk art. I will provide examples of folk art inspired illustration, including my own work as well as the work of others from present day and historically from different cultures.

You can bring your own printouts or examples on your phone too of folk art style animals, mythological creatures and flowers that you can work from.

The workshop will last 6 hours and in that time you will have lots of mono-printing experimental work as well as a final piece of artwork to take home with you.

Suitable for all abilities of artist.

£80 per person, or £150 for 2 (when you book together)

Meet the tutor

Jane illustrates empowered women, focusing on the celebration of the female form and the growth, change and healing we experience as we live our lives and grow. Her curvaceous figures represent perfectly imperfect versions of women. Some of her pieces are inspired by Folk art stylisation.

Jane also uses local landscapes and outdoor experiences as inspiration for her illustration. These landscape pieces are an emphasis of the significance of the great outdoors, fresh air, exploration and its positive impact on our well being.

Jane uses an array of materials however, her preferred medium is inks combined with bleach as its alchemy is a therapeutic practice. She also makes marks using various mixed media to create collage pieces and is developing her printmaking skills by experimenting with collagraph, mono printing and intaglio techniques. She works digitally too.
